Clean, even margins are the rule here. This all contributes to balance and harmony. There is no way to achieve this with the modular approach of factory shops. This holds true in the simplest of rooms. The proportions and dimensions of a quality set of cabinets are driven by the room---not an arbitrary grid layed out in a distant factory. Those incremental differences are very important long after trendiness has worn away. Timelessness is not just pleasing to look at, its cost effective in the long run. The beautiful antique doors to the right were imported from France and integrate well with the modern features of this Mill Valley kitchen.

This is an example of cabinetry carefully integrated into the architecture. Note the seamless appearance where the cabinets meet the wall. This is a modified flush inset design; the frame of the cabinet is at the same plane as the doors and drawers, but there is no frame under the doors nor between doors and drawers as with a true flush inset design.

Careful installation of these cabinets is evidenced here where the margins are very close to the window and are equal on either side. Also the margins between doors and the frame are even. The doors are flat and carefully hung. These are the details that evince quality installation. While most installations do not have the complicated angles shown here they nevertheless benefit from careful attention to details.
